Wooster and Mercer Lofts

The Wooster and Mercer Lofts in Arlington combine new construction with an old school feel. Abdo Development and Cunningham Quill Architects began with a seven-story brownstone factory-style façade and incorporated interior touches like 140 year-old bricks from the original Capital Children’s Museum building. Other features include massive industrial windows, exposed ductwork and dramatic floating iron stairs. All 87 residences are authentic lofts, with ceilings soaring as high as 21 feet.

Cooking spaces are an integral element in the open-space design, with honed granite counters, maple cabinets, Wolfe gas ranges and SubZero fridges. Baths feature oversized seamless showers and honed marble double vanities. Penthouse units also come with upstairs family rooms leading out to private rooftop terraces. All residents get to enjoy a remarkable array of amenities, such as a central courtyard, swimming pool, fitness center, club room, concierge service and a private dog park.

Rosslyn: An Evolving Waterfront

Rosslyn was once known for its ferry to Georgetown, as well as wild and wooly gambling halls. A “corruption cleanup” campaign in the early 1900s led to greater residential development, while modern makeovers have focused on skyscrapers not bound by Washington D.C.’s height restrictions act. Today, Arlington planners are creating a more walk-friendly environment. Recently opened restaurants include CAVA, KOVI and an upcoming Sfoglina location from Fabio Trabocchi. There’s also faves like Barley Mac, Mele Bistro, Quinn’s on the Corner and the Continental Pool Lounge. Groceries can be gathered from Whole Foods while morning espressos are available at Central Coffee Bar and Jon’s Coffee. Residents have plenty of options outside their local waterfront haunts as well, whether it’s crossing Key Bridge to Georgetown or walking next-door to Courthouse and Clarendon for dining, shopping and entertainment galore.
